About Us

History of the Firm

Jim York and Doug Stanfield met through a mutual retired friend that had been responsible for the real estate portfolio of Mutual of New York (MONY) in the Southeast United States. Jim had been investing in land syndications and was holding together partnerships that had difficulties in the real estate recession of 1974. Doug had worked with the retired gentleman at Murray and Associates, a commercial real estate firm from 1971-1975. After Doug accepted the position as Vice President and Managing Broker of Clover Realty’s Commercial Division, he sold a strip center to Jim and a partner that was held for several years and sold for a profit. From that and other successful transactions, Jim York and Doug Stanfield decided to form The Stanfield York Company to serve clients and partners in the acquisition, management, leasing and/or development of income producing properties. Through the efforts of Jim York supervising the investments and to find quality investment partners that understood risk, as well as rewards, and Doug Stanfield to acquire, analyze and manage the assets, as well as, conduct brokerage activities, the complimenting talents have enabled the firm to prosper since 1979.
